Today, Jack Dromey MP welcomed parents, children and teachers from the ‘Save Our Nursery Schools’ campaign to Downing Street, as they handed in a petition with over 25,000 signatures.

This is the latest representation made in a series of campaigns that have secured over £24 million of extra funding for Nursery Schools, which has kept Featherstone, Osborne, Marsh Hill and Castle Vale Nursery schools open.

Jack Dromey MP said:

“I am proud to welcome dozens of parents, their children, teachers and head teachers to Downing Street to hand in a 25,000 strong petition to Save Our Nursery Schools.

“There are 400 Maintained Nursery Schools in England, 27 in Birmingham, and four outstanding Nursery Schools in Erdington alone – Castle Vale, Osborne, Featherstone and Marsh Hill.

“Three times we have fought and won to keep them open in the face of funding cuts. They now need a secure long-term funding plan to safeguard their future. We will keep on fighting, so the next generation of children get the very best start in life.”
